What is the solution for?

Power Plants and Projects brings together information to research centralized power generation developments in Brazil. You can explore their location, energy source, capacity, development stage and the companies involved.

Use the search to monitor a market, shortlist investment opportunities, identify potential customers or investigate a specific power plant.

Find projects of interest

Start with the search field when you already know the development's name or its CEG, the generating facility identification code.

To explore a market, combine the main filters:

  • State and Submarket: define the geographic scope of your search.

  • Energy Source and Fuel: select the type of generation you want to analyze.

  • Minimum Capacity: focus on developments of the desired size.

  • Grouped Status and Status: distinguish development stages and refine your selection.

Under Additional Filters, you can narrow the search using authorization and operation dates, expected operation start, construction schedule and the status of transmission or distribution system use agreements — CUST and CUSD.

A good way to start is to select a few criteria and add others as you examine the results.

Organize the table information

The table lets you compare the projects found. Use column selection to display information relevant to your objective.

For a technical assessment, prioritize capacity, energy source, status and grid connection. For commercial research, include the companies involved, corporate group and available schedule information.

The capacity total, shown in MW, helps you assess the aggregate capacity of your selection. This figure represents the selected records, which may include different development stages.

Understand the developments and their participants

Explore available information about each project, including municipality, authorized capacity, regulatory dates and the substation associated with its connection.

Also review owners, operators, developers and corporate groups. These roles may be held by different companies; identifying each one helps guide an investigation or commercial approach.

Information availability varies by development.

View the results on the map and export data

Use map visualization to see the geographic distribution of the selected developments. This complements the table and helps reveal regional concentrations or dispersion.

Exporting results allows you to continue your analysis in spreadsheets and reports.

For developments with available data, specific options are also provided:

  • ONS Curtailment: export information on generation restrictions.

  • CCEE Average Hourly Generation: export available data to analyze hourly generation profiles.

These resources depend on data availability and access permissions.

Explore the project details screen

When you open a development's details from the results list, you will find a screen bringing together different aspects of the project. Review the sections according to your analysis objective; available data varies by energy source, status and information coverage.

Legal information, equipment and schedule

Review the CEG, ANEEL regulatory proceeding, legal acts and operating regime. For projects under construction, check available records on progress, licensing and grid connection and system use agreements.

The Equipment area shows available specifications and manufacturers according to the project's energy source. Under Schedule, review planned and actual milestones for authorization, construction and operation start.

Location, connection and surroundings

Under Location, view the development on the map. In Connection, review the recorded substation and connection point characteristics.

Explore Nearby Projects and Nearby Substations to understand the surroundings. Adjust the search radius and use energy source and status filters in the project list. Open result details to investigate further.

Auctions and tariffs

Review auction participation records and results, when available, including contracted energy and the price on the auction date. Under Tariffs, examine transmission tariff information by cycle and its regulatory references.

Monthly and hourly performance

For operating plants with available data, explore charts of capacity factor, monthly generation and hourly profiles. Comparisons with nearby projects and the PLD electricity settlement price are also available; wind developments may have wind data.

Use Year and Month selectors, where shown, to examine periods. Compare similar energy sources and characteristics and check each chart's units.

Companies and ownership chain

Review Legal Entities to identify owners, operators, developers and their corporate groups. The Ownership Chain areas and graph help visualize available relationships.

A practical sequence is to start with project identification and status, review its connection and location, and then explore companies, schedules and performance according to your research purpose.

Example: prepare a prospecting shortlist

Imagine your company supplies equipment or services to solar projects.

Select State, Energy Source and the Status corresponding to the stage you want to serve. If necessary, adjust Minimum Capacity to focus on the appropriate project size.

Then organize the columns to review companies, capacity and schedules. Check the distribution on the map and export your selection to prepare an opportunity list.

Before moving forward, review the information references and confirm the points relevant to your decision.
