Distribution Grid Substations: explore infrastructure and generation in your region
Locate substations, explore transformers and feeders, and analyze distributed generation, tariffs and available grid files for your research.
Explore the solution
The ePowerBay Distribution Grid Substations solution lets you search facilities and explore the infrastructure associated with each one.
The tool brings together location, transformers, feeders, load and distributed generation indicators, distribution utility tariffs and downloadable files. This information supports initial regional assessments and the preparation of studies on generation, consumption and distribution grids.
Find substations of interest
On the search page, use Name contains to search for part of a facility's name, or Name text search to perform a text search. You can also enable Search by multiple terms.
Combine your query with these filters:
Distribution Utility: select the companies of interest.
State and Municipality: define the area to search.
Location: enter latitude, longitude and Radius [km] to find substations around a point.
Click Search to view results. To explore an area without specifying a facility, leave the name blank and use geographical filters.
The search uses the latest Distribution Utility Geographic Database (BDGD) cycle configured in the platform.
Explore the map and export results
Results appear on the map and in a table with substation name, distribution utility, municipality, ownership information and coordinates, where data is available.
Use Columns to choose displayed information, sort records using column headers and adjust the number of results per page.
Under Exports, click Search Results to take query data into your analyses. Export page exports the records on the displayed page.
Explore transformers and feeders
Click a substation's name to open its analysis page. Under Location, view its position on the map and explore the facility's geographical context.
Under Transformers & Feeders, examine associated equipment, including identification codes, phases, voltages and rated capacity, where records are available.
The feeder list helps you understand the network associated with the substation. Also review Connected Load to complement your assessment of the infrastructure.
Equipment ratings and load indicators should not be interpreted on their own as available capacity for new connections.
Analyze associated distributed generation
Under Connected Plants, generation indicators are organized into three groups:
Latest utility data cycle: capacity whose connection appears in the utility's records.
Additional capacity estimated by proximity: capacity associated with the substation through a geographical estimate.
Total Capacity: a value combining the two displayed components.
This distinction is essential: proximity to a substation does not confirm a plant's electrical connection.
Charts show capacity distribution by connection date, generation arrangement, customer class, microgeneration or minigeneration, and generation source.
Use these visualizations to explore connection trends and the area's generation profile. CSV and Excel options export chart data for comparisons and reports.
Review utility tariffs
Under Tariffs, examine available B3 Conventional and A4 values, including TE and TUSD components.
Check the displayed tariff arrangement, time-of-use period, unit and validity before comparing values. These details provide context for consumption and generation analyses, taking each case's tariff classification into account.
Download grid files
Where available, Files for Download provides KMZ files for:
High-Voltage Network.
Medium-Voltage Network.
Transformers and Protection.
These files let you continue geographical exploration in KMZ-compatible tools and complement your infrastructure analysis.
Organize your assessment
To investigate an area, start with the site's coordinates and define a search radius. Compare the substations found and open the most relevant facilities.
Examine transformers and feeders, review load and generation indicators, and distinguish recorded connections from proximity estimates. Then export data and explore grid files to deepen your work.
This workflow supports an initial assessment. The feasibility of a new connection depends on technical analysis and the conditions established by the distribution utility.
